Self-Referral Blood Tests
Is self-referral right for you?
Self-referral is a good option if:
- You’d like blood tests for your own interest or peace of mind
- You want routine health checks, such as cholesterol, vitamins or thyroid
- Another specialist or practitioner has asked you to have specific blood tests
Book a GP consultation first if:
- You have symptoms and aren’t sure which tests you need
A GP can assess your symptoms properly and make sure you have the right tests, so you don’t pay for ones you don’t need. You can book a GP appointment before your blood tests, or a follow-up afterwards to go through your results.

How it works
- Complete our self-referral form. It’s a short online questionnaire about your health and what you’d like to check. It’s free, with no obligation. Self refer now
- A doctor reviews it within 24 hours. One of our doctors will look at your answers and decide whether a self-referral blood test is right for you.
- We email you our recommendation. You’ll receive the most suitable tests or packages, with prices and a link to book.
- Book and pay online. Payment is taken when you book.
- Have your blood taken at our Notting Hill clinic. Blood tests can also be arranged at over 150 sites across the UK. If this is more convenient, let us know and we’ll arrange it for you.
- Receive your results by email. If you’d like to discuss them, you can book a follow-up consultation with one of our GPs.
Preparation: Some tests need fasting or a morning appointment. We’ll include this in our email.

Results are available from 24 hours, depending on the test. You’ll be told how long your tests will take when you book.

Payment for your appointment is taken when you book. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. A £50 fee applies for late cancellations and missed appointments.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to see a GP first?
Not if you’d like tests for your own interest, routine checks, or because another specialist has asked for them. If you have symptoms and aren’t sure what you need, we’d recommend seeing a GP first. You can book a GP appointment before your tests or a follow-up afterwards.
How do I know which test to choose?
You don’t need to. Our doctor recommends the right tests or package based on your form.
Will a doctor review my results?
Results are emailed to you without a routine doctor’s review. If anything is very abnormal, a doctor will contact you urgently. You can also book a follow-up consultation if you’d like a GP to go through your results with you.
How quickly will I get my results?
From 24 hours, depending on the test. We’ll tell you the expected time when you book.
Can I have my blood taken outside London?
Yes. We can arrange your test at one of over 150 sites across the UK. Just let us know.
Do I need to fast?
Only for some tests, such as cholesterol and glucose. We’ll let you know in advance.
Need blood tests for work or study?
See our Occupational Health Blood Tests for immunity checks, TB blood tests and screening with a GP-signed letter.
