Sexual Health Screening
At The Hill Practice, we offer discreet, comprehensive, and confidential sexual health screening in a calm, non-judgemental environment. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms, seeking peace of mind after a recent encounter, or just keeping on top of your sexual health, we’re here to support you with sensitivity and care.
We provide a range of STI/STD screening packages, including express testing options for those who want rapid results and treatment without delay. During your consultation, Dr Mona Barzin will discuss your history, any current symptoms or concerns, and recommend the most appropriate tests for you.
When to Test
For the most accurate results, we generally recommend:
- Swabs or urine tests: at least 2 weeks after potential exposure
- Blood tests (e.g. HIV, syphilis, hepatitis): at least 4 weeks post-exposure
This is based on the incubation periods of various sexually transmitted infections, testing too early may not detect all infections. However, if you’re experiencing any symptoms, testing should be done as soon as possible.
Please note a 15 minute consultation fee will also be charged.

What happens during a sexual health screening?
You’ll have a private consultation with Dr Mona Barzin to discuss your concerns, symptoms (if any), recent exposures, and medical history. She will recommend the most appropriate STI/STD tests for you, and explain everything clearly and without judgement.
What infections can I be tested for?
We can test for a wide range of infections, including HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, hepatitis B & C, herpes, trichomonas, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, and more. Testing can include urine samples, blood tests, and swabs depending on your needs.
How soon after exposure should I get tested?
- Swab or urine tests: ideally 2+ weeks after potential exposure
- Blood tests (e.g. HIV, syphilis, hepatitis): ideally 4+ weeks after exposure
However, if you have symptoms (e.g. discharge, pain, rash), you should book a consultation immediately.
Can I get tested even if I don’t have symptoms?
Yes. Many STIs show no symptoms, so regular screening is important — especially if you’ve had a new partner or unprotected sex. We offer routine screening even when you feel completely well.
How quickly will I get my results?
Results are usually available within 1–3 working days depending on the tests. Express testing options are available for those who need faster turnaround.
Is everything confidential?
Absolutely. All consultations and results are handled with the highest level of discretion and confidentiality. Your privacy is fully respected at every stage.
Can I be treated if I test positive?
Yes. We offer prompt treatment, partner advice, and referrals to specialists if needed. Dr Barzin will ensure you receive clear guidance and follow-up support.
Is this service open to both men and women?
Yes. We offer sexual health screening and treatment for all genders, and consultations are tailored to your specific needs and anatomy.
